Still holding…

We are still holding our breaths but the Ardern & Bloomfield Show tomorrow will tell us whether we will be stepping down from Level 4. What do you pick? What do I pick? I’ve looked up the factors that are likely to be taken into account.

How we tell our stories

How will our COVID story be told long after the pandemic? Will we have saved people? Will we have ‘saved’ the economy? Noting this is not a necessary dichotomy – saving one or the other. We are now comfortable with a Level 4 lockdown but, at some point, the restrictions will have to loosen up.

Musical variations & vaccines

A musical representation of COVID-19 was made using a tone for each amino acid in its DNA sequence. Sequencing COVID’s DNA is the key to creating an effective vaccine. Vaccine development is moving at breakneck speed – Oxford University has approval for a first Clinical Trial in late April.

My teacups are getting stormy

It’s easy to get stressed right now. Our household is unlikel to be the only one overreacting when people have symptoms that could be from COVID. Or any other illness that would mean a difficult and risky trip to the doctor.

Staycation

How many lives have we saved by having an Easter lockdown so no one has died on the road? The problem with reducing the risk of death ad infinitum is a boring life which still has death at the end of it.
