Fireworks are fun. COVID is not fun. I thought I’d use fireworks analogies to explain some of the jargon that describes how likely COVID is to spread.

A breath of fresh air
Where has the New Zealand COVID experiment got to in the last 5 weeks? In comparison to China, or Sweden, we’re looking pretty good. Which is why we are moving from Alert Level 4 to Level 3 for the next 2 weeks.
How we tell our stories
How will our COVID story be told long after the pandemic? Will we have saved people? Will we have ‘saved’ the economy? Noting this is not a necessary dichotomy – saving one or the other. We are now comfortable with a Level 4 lockdown but, at some point, the restrictions will have to loosen up.
