Back around a loop to higher level alerts. We are saving people, or our economy, or both. Maybe. How do things compare in Sweden, where they have taken the distancing rather than the lockdown approach?
Lockdowns have varied across the world in their severity. In some countries people can’t go further than 100m from their houses or exercise at all. As countries come out the other side of their infection curves restrictions are reducing, as in New Zealand. However, the USA has not yet got on top of COVID, not surprising given their variable approaches. But maybe they haven’t all swallowed bleach yet…
Where has the New Zealand COVID experiment got to in the last 5 weeks? In comparison to China, or Sweden, we’re looking pretty good. Which is why we are moving from Alert Level 4 to Level 3 for the next 2 weeks.
We are still holding our breaths but the Ardern & Bloomfield Show tomorrow will tell us whether we will be stepping down from Level 4. What do you pick? What do I pick? I’ve looked up the factors that are likely to be taken into account.
New Zealand is about to hold its breath for 4 weeks and it’s time I return to practicing meditation. I’ll have time and this is the type of time meditation is helpful.
We’re preparing to hunker down, doing last runs to town for supplies. New Zealand is racing against the clock as Level 4 approaches. Will it be only 4 weeks of lockdown? Here’s hoping but it seems unlikely. And whose information on the virus and how to act is reliable? So many unknowns.
